Madison / Bronx - Elva Milagro Rodriguez, age 64, passed away on Tuesday, November 26th, 2013 at University of Wisconsin Hospital. She was born on November 5th, 1949 in New York City, NY to parents Cirio Colon & Margarita Bruno.
Elva was a graduate of Lehman College, she began teaching in 1974 in New York City. After moving to Madison, she continued teaching as a substitute teacher for the Madison Metropolitan School District. An avid baseball fan, Elva loved watching her son play baseball in Madison, and keeping up with her favorite team, the New York Yankees. Always a social person, she loved chatting with her friends as well as everyone she met.
She is survived by her Son, Luis Rodriguez (fiance Lea) of Madison, brother Cesar (Connie) Morales of Blanchardville, cousins Marlece Chiaramida and Melissa Calderon of New York, Gene Calderon of New Jersey, Woodie Pagan of Puerto Rico, Michele Calderon of Chicago and best friend Evelyn Clavie of Florida.
She was preceded in death by: her grandparents Antonio (Maria Teresa) Colon, her parents, aunts / uncles Elva (Woodrow) Pagan and Gladys (Eugene) Calderon, and cousin Gisele Calderon.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday December 8th, 2013 at R.G. Ortiz Funeral Home in the Bronx, NY. Burial will be at St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx, NY on Monday December 9th, 2013.
Elva will have a Visitation, Wednesday December 4th, 2013 at Cress Funeral Home 3610 Speedway Road, Madison from 4 - 7 pm.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the nephrology and cardiac staff at the University of Wisconsin Hospital.
