Emmett Lincoln

Emmett Lincoln, 85, of Madison, WI, passed away on January 23, 2024, after spending a few days in the hospital. He was born on June 11, 1938, to Tobe Lincoln and Mattie Mae Lincoln in Americus, GA. Emmett is survived by his two daughters and a son: Cynthia, Brenda, and Emmett Jr.

Emmett is now at peace, joining his parents and all his brothers and sisters: Inez, William, Mary, Abraham, Lula Bell, and Ernest. That is one fun party re-united.

Emmett was such a light in this sometimes-dark world, and he will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. He touched the lives of so many people across multiple generations. During his time with us, he made a point to always help anyone with whatever he could, never second-guessing his decision. Anyone who knows Emmett, knows that his family meant everything to him and in his eyes, each of you reading this was family or you wouldn’t be here.

His love of life was evident in the way he lived. Even just sitting outside during the summer turned into a fun time with family, friends, and of course food! The block will be different now without him sitting in the driveway with his music on the radio as he watered his plants. For us, he really is that pebble thrown into a lake as the lives he touched act as ripples that extend far beyond just us.

Emmett, we will cherish, forever, the memories you gave us. In our dark times, you were always there to remind us of the beauty that was all around us and helped us be stronger. You said, life was way too short to not have fun and show us that money doesn’t buy happiness. You said love is what everyone would remember you by and you’re right. Your love is what will stay with us forever.

 A Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road in Madison. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Emmett will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery.
