Eric Brown

April 23, 1945 — August 28, 2017

Eric Stephen Brown passed away peacefully on August 25th from natural causes at the age of 72. He is survived by his two daughters, Allison and Jillian Brown, his wife Karen Kimball, and his brothers, Rod Brown and Craig Brown.

Eric was born in Waltham, Massachusetts in 1945 to Phillip Brown and Ruth Wilmersdorfer-Brown. Ruth had immigrated to the US during WWII; as a result, she instilled a love of languages and exploring different cultures at an early age in Eric. In his lifetime, he learned half a dozen languages (including fluency in German) and was able to travel to many countries, including a special experience living in Germany with a host family and working at a local winery. His passion was passed on to his daughters who studied foreign language from an early age and studied abroad in college. He was proud to share these memories with them and his passion is a gift they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

Eric was also an avid bicyclist. His love of exploring on two wheels led him frequently down the bike paths of Madison as well as along the Danube river in Germany or along the Peloponnese
in Greece.

It was no surprise, given Eric's sense of adventure, he loved being an entrepreneur. He ran his own management consulting business for over 30 years and supported dozens of companies in helping them achieve their dreams of becoming a sustainable business.

Eric is very loved by his family, friends, and community. He truly made friends wherever he went. His ability to find something in common with anyone made him unforgettable to so many people. Most recently, he loved his strong community at Capitol Lakes.

He has, and will continue, to make a huge impact in his daughters' lives as well as his community around him as they carry his memory onwards.

A celebration of Eric's life will be held on Saturday, September 16th at 7pm at the First Unitarian Society of Madison (900 University Bay Dr, Madison, WI 53705). Reception to follow.
