Eric C. Maddox

MADISON- Eric C. Maddox, age 33, died on Thursday, August 27, 2009, as a result of a traffic accident. Eric was born December 27, 1975, in Racine. He attended Case High School in Racine and later MATC in Madison. He lived in Madison for the past ten years.

Eric possessed a warm and caring heart. His smile was radiant and he would light up a room when he walked in. Eric always had time to sit and patiently listen to others. He was a thoughtful and quiet person. Eric loved tennis, fishing and camping; including visiting the Boundary Waters in Canada and the Colorado Rockies. Eric would start each day sitting on his apartment porch overlooking the woods. His favorite place was a farm in Blue Mounds and in the last months of his life he would spend every moment at this farm. He often said that he found peace at this place. Eric recently worked at Great Wolf Lodge and enjoyed making numerous friends there.

Our time with Eric was far too short. It was a joy to see him seeking a direction in his life and slowly finding a sense of purpose over the last few years. His interest in nature, being outdoors and engaging with family and friends revealed this evolution in his character. Eric was deeply loved by all of his family and will be remembered forever.

Eric is survived by his father, Jim Maddox; mother and step-father, Valerie and Jerry Rose; grandparents, Jeannine and Jim Jacobsen, uncles and aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and two step-sisters. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harlan and Josephine Maddox.

A memorial service for Eric will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. A visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.

A visitation for Eric will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2009, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4947 Colony Avenue, Franksville, WI, 53126, with memorial service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow the service at the Seventh-day Community Center.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mental Health Center of Dane County, 625 W. Washington Avenue, Madison, WI 53703.
