Ernest Leroy Nilsson, also known as Whitey, Ernie and Leroy, a lifelong resident of Madison, a graduate West High, senior agent at MassMutual, passed away on Saturday, December 6, at 90 years of age at Oakwood Village East where he had resided for the past two years.
He was born, in Madison, on February 26, 1924 to Ernest and Alice (Beane) Nilsson (formerly Nelson). He was a Marine Corp Veteran having served in the South Pacific during WWII. He enjoyed skiing, road rallies, and travel. He was a head usher at Covenant Presbyterian for many years. He was a proud agent at MassMutual Financial Services for 65 years where his clients and coworkers became his extended family who he cared for as much as his own family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jean and is survived his daughter, Sue and her partner, Ken Lapham.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 326 S. Segoe Rd. Madison, on Thursday, December 11, at 1p.m. with Rev. Dr. Charlie Berthoud officiating. followed by burial with military honors at Forest Hill Cemetery which is open to anyone who wishes to attend. Please share your memories at
