Stoughton- Ervin D. Erdahl, age 84, died on Friday, March 10, 2017 due to complications of Parkinson's and Congestive Heart Failure. He was born in the town of Montrose on September 7, 1932, the son of Stella (Norland) and Preston Erdahl. Ervin joined the Army National Guard on his 17th birthday. He married Shirley Halverson on December 3, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison. Ervin worked for the State Patrol for 10 years. He retired from the Department of Military Affairs after 36 years. Ervin was a member of First Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway, and the Stoughton American Legion. He and Shirley have enjoyed living in the Vennevoll/Skaalendal Retirement Community since 2004. During the last several years he spent many hours on genealogy to document ancestors and living relatives throughout the world. Ervin was able to re-establish contact with relatives in Norway, Germany, and throughout the U.S.A. He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife, Road Scholar (Elderhostel) Programs were a favorite destination. In addition to the many trips throughout the United States they journeyed to Europe several times to visit family, friends and see the sights. Ervin is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons, Steven of Stoughton and Chris (Jodi) of Colorado; two daughters, Marsha (Kevin) Peloski of La Crosse and Susan (Russell) Rupp of Columbus; five grandchildren, Tristan Erdahl, Michael Peloski, Evelyn, Anna and Erik Rupp; two great grandchildren, Emily Ann and William Erdahl; two sisters, Shirley Krueger of Utah and Marilyn (Allen) Fahrney of Janesville; brother, Kenneth (Bobbi) of Poynette; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Erdahl of Madison and Billie Erdahl of Pleasant Prairie; two brothers-in-law, Don Cripps of Minnesota and Jerry Majors of Pardeeville; and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Steven Peloski; three sisters, Doris Voit, Pearl Cripps, and Janet Majors; and three brothers, Preston Sanford, Leroy and Roger. Memorial services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Skaalen Home Chapel, 400 N. Morris Street, Stoughton. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, immediately following the services, in the Skaalen dining hall. Friends may greet the family from 11:00 AM until the time of services Saturday. Private internment of the cremated remains will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Skaalen Nursing Home or Agrace HospiceCare Inc.
