Erwin M. Lichte, age 91, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 in a local care center. He was born August 29, 1918, in Winfield Township, WI, the son of Fredrick and Amelia (Reineke) Lichte. He was a veteran of WW II having served in the US Army. Erwin spent most of his life working in areas of farming, Oscar Mayer, the Madison Fire Department for 32 years and retiring in 1973.  After retiring from the Madison Fire Department he lived in the LaCrosse, WI area for 30 years.  He remained active in carpentry and building new homes. In his spare time, Erwin loved fishing and hunting. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.  Survivors include 2 daughters: Helen (David) Nelson of Winchester, WI and Judy (August) Bjugstad of Stoughton: 1 son: Frederick (Sherrol) Lichte on Montrose, CO; 8 grandchildren: Donna, John, Susan, Erika, Nathan, Gretchen, Kristine and Marci and 20 great grandchildren. Erwin was preceded in death by his 3 wives, parents, 1 brother and 3 sisters.  Services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 14 at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH 322 E. Washington Avenue with Pastor Cindy Crane officiating. Friends may call from 12:00 pm until time of service at the Church. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to a charity of your choice.
