Deerfield- Eugene C. Lund, age 81, passed away at Karmenta Care Center in Madison on Wednesday, July 20, 2011. He was born in Madison on July 14, 1930, a son of Carl J. and Eleanor (Norstad) Lund. On April 8, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Midthun in Deerfield. Eugene was a lifelong farmer in the Christiana area and a lifelong member of East Koshkonong Lutheran Church. Eugene loved his children, teaching them all how to farm, and instilling in them his values, hard work ethic, and love for the land. Eugene loved his animals, milking cows for 63 years, and especially his special dog Goldie. He was an avid story teller, enjoyed tractor pulls, NASCAR, bowling, dancing, hunting, fishing and trapping, and was a fan of the Packers and Brewers. He was grateful to have traveled to Norway and Denmark.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; 8 children, Dale (Julie), Ronald, Judith (Wayne) Gjertson, Debra (Douglas Allen) Kelter, Randi, James (Janelle Dunlavy), Dennis (Judy), and Robert (Emily) Lund; 15 grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, LaVerne (Betty) Gulseth. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 11:00 am at East Koshkonong Lutheran Church, 454 E. Church Rd. Cambridge. The family will greet friends on Sunday, July 24th from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, and again at church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
