Eunice Margot Lewis

April 22, 1917 — December 17, 2010

Eunice Margot Lewis died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Dec. 17, 2010. She was born in Milwaukee WI on April 22, 1917, daughter of Paul Gayhardt Schimming and Maria Mathilda (Hess) Schimming.  As a baby, her family moved to Madison, where she resided for the remainder of her life. Eunice graduated from Central High School in 1936, and began working at the Dutch Maid Ice Cream shop. It was there she met her future husband Douglas.  At first she was not interested, but Doug was stubborn and his persistence paid off and they were married on May 5, 1943. During World War II, she worked as a telephone operator, and at Madison Ceramic Arts Studio. She loved art, music and reading. Eunice had a strong and abiding faith in God and served faithfully as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for many decades. She is survived by her children Douglas Jr. (Cheryl), Raymond (Teri Lynn), Kim (Patti), Dee Traxler (Steen), and Pam Traxler (Starc).  Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Camron Lewis (Dave Montgomery), Shawn Lewis (Stefan Schneider), Lori Kennedy (Jeremy), Molly Lewis (Andrew Braun), Rob Lewis, Seth, Amy, and Jesse Traxler, and 3 precious great grandchildren, Braeden, Hunter and Ava, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Douglas, beloved daughter Donna Alexander, sisters Dorothy Smith, Maudie Parsons, and her brother Patrick Schimming.  A memorial service will be held on January 8, 2011 at 2 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 542 Pleasant View Rd. Middleton WI.
