Stoughton- Eunice H. Swenson, age 85 passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Stoughton Hospital. She was born in Stoughton on March 24, 1923, a daughter of the late John and Gertrude (Johnson) Jensen. She was a graduate of the Stoughton High School. Her marriage to Harold F. Swenson occurred on February 22, 1945. They farmed in the Stoughton / Cottage Grove area. He preceded her in death in 1965. Eunice was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, was active with the Church Women, and volunteered for many years. She also enjoyed her volunteer work at the Skaalen Home. Eunice was ever faithful in remembering the birthdays of family and friends throughout the years. Surviving are three daughters, Mary Peterson, Susan (James Fitzpatrick) Swenson, and Gloria Hawkinson; two sons, Mark Swenson and Tom Swenson; and nine grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews further survive. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Phillips and Beatrice Walheim. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 11:00am at First Lutheran Church 310 E. Washington St., Stoughton with the Rev. Bill Lehman officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00pm at Sunset Memory Gardens in Madison. The family will greet friends at church on Wednesday from 9:30 am until the time of service. A luncheon will be served at the church following the services on Wednesday.
