Stoughton- Eunice A. Veum, age 91, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Stoughton Hospital. She was born in Edgerton on October 30, 1919, a daughter of Louis and Meta (Stricker) Schachtschneider. On February 19, 1944, she was united in marriage to Owen Veum. Eunice was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved shopping trips, flowers, and birds, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Owen Veum; 7 children, Thomas (Gladys), Mary (Dwight) Pugh, Christine (Duane) Ring, Jean (Mike) Nordlie, Ann (David) Stenjem, John (Teresa), and Kenny (Cindy) Veum; 12 grandchildren, Sherri Burke, Vicki Lamb, Nick Ring, Eric Veum, Brian and Chad Nordlie, Benjamin and Shelby Veum, Michele Baldwin, Daniel Pugh, and Amber and Amanda Veum; as well as 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law; sisters, Norma (Percy) Tenjum and Opal (Howard) Haugen; and by a great granddaughter, Caitlyn Lamb. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 11:00 am at Covenant Lutheran Church, 1525 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton, with the Rev Mark Peterson and the Rev. George Carlson co-officiating. Burial will follow at Graves Cemetery, Rutland. The family will greet friends at the Cress Funeral home in Stoughton on Tuesday, May 3rd from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, and again at church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Special thanks to the staff of Stoughton Hospital, Hospice Care, Inc., Dr. Brehm, Home Health United, and everyone else who helped to care for Eunice. A very special thank you from the family to Teresa Veum for her extraordinary care.
