Madison - Evelyn G Bakke, just shy of her 96th birthday, passed away after a short illness at Attic Angel Place on Saturday, October 30, 2010. She was born on November 16, 1914 to Thomas and Mildred Baldwin. She was the last surviving sister of five siblings. Evelyn was a life long resident of Madison, graduating from Madison Central High School. After taking business courses, she worked as a state and federal employee. She was proud to be a volunteer at Madison General Hospital during WWII. She married Gordon Bakke on September 27, l941. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. She was very active at Christ Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Tom) Branton and Jane (Bob) Salinger; four grandchildren, Patrick (Diana) Schmedeman, Ryan (Ashleigh) Schmedeman, Rachel Salinger (Doug) Rustenburg, and Eric (Amy) Salinger; six very loving great-grandchildren, Riley & Taylor Schmedeman, Zachary & Maya Rustenburg, and Ben & Kylie Salinger. Her husband, Gordon, four sisters and a brother, preceded Evelyn in death. The family is extremely grateful to all of the staff at Attic Angel who have been like a second family, to Dr Betsy Trowbridge, and to Gail Gaustad, NP. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Attic Angel Place, 8301 Old Sauk Road, Middleton. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to:
