Evelyn Crump

Madison - Evelyn Ruth Crump, age 83 passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital. Evelyn Ruth (Nobles) Crump moved to Madison from Chicago in 1954 and married Earl in 1955. She initially lived in the Greenbush but eventually settled into Truax apartments where she resided for over 30 years. Evelyn was a strong and devoted Christian woman who loved God and, loved everyone without judgment and always had a warm smile and hug for everyone. After a brief illness, Evelyn returned home to the loving arms of God nine days after her 83rd birthday. Her last birthday on Easter, was surrounded by many family members and was in good spirits. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Earl Crump, her parents Monroe and Alice, brothers Monroe, Jr. and Irving, and sisters Naomi, Dorothy and niece Lillian Worthy. She is also preceded in death by a special friend, Mr. Jimmy Hudson. Left to mourn her loss and rejoice in her return home are her ten surviving nieces and nephews; Gregory, Denise "Penny", Cheryl, Darryl, Eric, Derek, Jennifer, Ronald, Bernadine and Alec. Also her great nephews and nieces; Spencer, Cameron, Michael, Kwame, Vennette, Benjamin, Lydia, Timothy, Ashley, Marc and Erica Naomi. Great nieces and nephews; Jackson, Olivia, Maizee, Zayvier, Savannah, Katiauna and Eli. Evelyn also touched the hearts of special friends; Virgina, Jennifer, Josh, Jackie, Cousin Ivy Jean, Sister Ezrow, Sister Ruth Ann, brother John, Susie and her TOPS friends. She always made contact with her Chicago connections of Erma Jean Bennett and Pauline Bond. Special thanks for support from Care, WI and the wonderful treatment team of Saint Mary's Hospital Medical Intensive Care Unit. Evelyn was recently recognized by the statewide and national TOPS program and was about to receive national and state recognition for her weight loss achievement. Evelyn Crump was the matriarch of the Nobles clan but God needed her more.
Funeral services will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00 am. A time to gather will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of services. Graveside services will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison.
