Deerfield- Evelyn L. Gilderhus, age 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at the Nazareth House in Stoughton. She was born in the Town of Christiana on May 23, 1916, the daughter of Morris and Agnes Olson. Evelyn graduated from Deerfield High School in 1934. She married Otis Gilderhus in 1939. Evelyn worked as a cook for the Deerfield Schools for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Liberty Lutheran Church. Evelyn enjoyed arts and crafts and was very proud of her Norwegian Heritage. She is survived by her two children, Steve Gilderhus of Deerfield and Mary Nelson of Janesville; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margaret Olson; and nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Vernon and Ward Olson; sister-in-law, Doris Olson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 14, 2011 at St. Paul's Liberty Lutheran Church, 3494 Oak Park Road, Deerfield, with Rev. Dan Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon in the Educational Center following the burial. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services Friday. A special thank you to the staff of Nazareth House, Pastor Dan Anderson and Dr. Lynda Siewert, for their wonderful care of Evelyn.
