Evelyn Kerttula Simmermon

July 10, 1919 — April 10, 2009

Simmermon, Evelyn Kerttula Stoughton- Evelyn Kerttula Simmermon was called home by her Lord on Friday, April 10, 2009.   She was born in Marinette, WI to Ernest and Nellie (Peterson) Bowman on July 10, 1919, where she lived until she moved to Madison with her husband, Bill Kertulla, who passed away in 1970.   Their children survive them: Joan (Jim) Podolak, Boulder, Colorado; Jack (Barbara) Kerttula, Watertown; and Jill (Jon Beachkofski) Kerttula, Blue Mounds.   Following Bill's death, Evelyn married Robert Simmermon, who survives her with his children, David of Madison, and Diane of Poynette.   Evelyn was a very active member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where she was on the staff for many years.   She taught Sunday school, belonged to XYZ, the Couples Club, Ruth Circle and the Congregational Life Committee.   She always enjoyed her volunteer duties as a First Friend to residents of Mendota Hospital, delivering meals to shut-ins, and helping where needed at Oakwood and Skaalen nursing homes.   She leaves her dear grandchildren, who have been a tremendous source of love and happiness, Gregg (Michaela) and Mark Kerttula; Charles (Andrea), Michael (Angie) and Mary Podolak; Ann (Daniel) Watts; Brian (Sarah) and Landon Beachkofski; and Victoria Helt.   She also leaves 10 great grandchildren.   Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Skaalen Home Chapel, 400 N. Morris St., Stoughton, with the Rev. James Koza officiating.   The family will greet friends on Tuesday at Skaalen from 1:00pm until the time of service.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare of Janesville.   A very special thank you to the staff of Skaalen Home and Stoughton Hospital for their loving care.   Olson-Holzhuter-Cress 206 W Prospect Ave Stoughton 608-873-9244 www.CressFuneralService.com
