Frances Caruso

March 14, 1936 — March 2, 2017

MADISON - Frances (Amato) Caruso, age 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thurs. Mar. 2, 2017 at the UW Hospital in Madison after a courageous battle with a brain tumor found on Dec. 5, 2016. She was born Mar. 14, 1936 in Palermo Sicily Italy to the late Giovanni and Maria (Caruso) Amato. She met Mario "Michael" Caruso in Palermo Sicily Italy while he was stationed in Europe. They married on Jan. 7, 1957 in Palermo. Frances was a homemaker for many years, and later worked for Savidusky's as a seamstress. She worked at the Mayflower Inn for 2 years, and Inn on the Park for 15 years before retiring in 2002. She divorced in 1977, and later met Lee Repsumer. Together they spent many happy years together. Frances enjoyed spending time outdoors, and loved to garden, paddle boating on Lake Wingra and sledding in the winter. She loved to cook, especially Sicilian food. Frances was an extremely hard working woman, and enjoyed learning and watching Packer games on tv. Once again, she had fallen in love again with a tender loving kitten like size cat, she had named Rosemarie.
Frances is survived by her son Vinnie (Nancy) Caruso, daughter Maria Caruso; 2 brothers Salvatore Amato, Giovanni Amato, both of Palermo, Sicily; a sister Piera Cezza of Lecce, Italy; her loving cat Rosemarie; and further survived by nieces, nephews, longtime friend Rosie, special friend Francene, and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, former husband Mario "Michael" Caruso, 2 sisters Giuseppina Amato and Rosaria Amato, and special friend Lee Repsumer.
A special thank you to UW Home Health United, all of the caring staff of the UW Hospital, Pallative Care at the UW Hospital, along with Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation Center in Stoughton, and also the paramedics of McFarland and Stoughton.

She loved tenderly, but with lots of Sicilian spunk!
