Madison -- Frances M. Johnson, age 89, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2008. She was preceded in death by Lester, her husband of 54 years; her daughter, Melanie Heald; her parents, Jennie and Sigfrid Monson; her brother, Kenneth Monson, who died in the Battle of the Bulge; and a sister, Genevieve Nelson. Survivors are her son, Graham (Sharon) of Naperville, Illinois, her son, Kent, and daughter, Laurel of Madison; five grandchildren, Anne (Chris) Meyer of Madison, Megan (Brett) Westrum of Shakopee, Minnesota, Erik, Kyle and Courtney Johnson of Naperville, Illinois. Frances was a graduate of the University of Chicago and was president of Chicago Association for Children with Learning Disabilities -- Chicago, South. Frances and her husband, Lester, were the principal founders of Beacon Therapeutic School. For several years, Frances was a member of Beverly Hills Embroiderers Guild. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5701 Raymond Road, Madison with Rev. Brent Campbell presiding. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Wednesday. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
