Frances Melville

Waupaca/Madison- Frances Violet Melville, age 98, passed away on July 13, 2014 at the home of her son Jeffrey in Waupaca.

Frances was born on July 6, 1916, in Monroe, the daughter of Theodore and Anna Bayrhoffer. After high school, Frances attended Normal Teachers School and then taught school for 3 years. She went on to attend Ripon College. She was a secretary for the American Automobile Association in Washington, D.C. and later for the Internal Revenue Service in Madison and Wausau, where she met her husband Frank. They married in 1951 and resided in Madison for 50 plus years, where they raised their two sons.

Upon retirement Frank and Fran traveled extensively visiting Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Frances enjoyed many hobbies including knitting, weaving and making pottery. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed golfing into her early nineties. Frances was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Frances has resided in Waupaca with Jeff and Sue since 2012. She is survived by her two sons; Thomas of Madison and Jeffrey (Sue) of Waupaca, grandchildren; Rachel, Anna, Lindsey and Lucas; and sister Marion Heuer.
She was preceded in death by husband Frank and brothers Ted, Charles and Robert and sister Gladys.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2014 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison. A committal service will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorials contributions can be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church in Madison.
