Frances ""Fran"" Oehrlein

SUN PRAIRIE
Frances ""Fran"" (Birkinbine) Oehrlein passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the age of 87. Fran was born in New Rockford, ND on April 13, 1924 the daughter of the late Robert C. and Neva (Maynard) Birkinbine. She was a graduate of Sun Prairie High School, Class of 1942, and also a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. On December 15, 1945 she was united in marriage to Albert Oehrlein in Sun Prairie. She was a lifetime resident of Sun Prairie.

Fran was a lifetime member of the VFW 9362, the Nightingale Nurses Association, Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, and Past President of the VFW Auxillary. She was a superb seamstress and bridge player. She loved lake living and baking and was known for her pies.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Albert; eight children: Gail (Dan) Goodman of Norfolk, VA, Jeri (Terry) Gorman of St. Paul, MN, Jon (Linda Eckert) Oehrlein of Presque Isle, WI, Jody Oehrlein of Columbus, Jean (Bob) Kronzer of Madison, Mary (Stephan) Poster of Waunakee, Tod Oehrlein of Hazelhurst, and Brad (Anita) Oehrlein of DeForest; grandchildren: Jackie, Jason, Kelsey, Trista, Tyler, Kelly, Jayme, and Macy; great-grandsons, Sam and Owen; and brother, William ""Buck"" Birkinbine of Sun Prairie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Alan in 2011; brothers, Robert and Romy; and sisters, Roberta, Sally, and ""Toots"".

Please join the family on Monday, May 9, 2011 at the VFW Post 9362, 349 S. Walker Way, Sun Prairie, for Fran's Celebration of Life from 3:30 until 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the family will be gifted to Colonial View and VFW in Fran's loving memory.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of St. Mary's and Care Wisconsin for providing outstanding medical support and compassionate care.
