Waunakee -- Frances Rotman, age 96 died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Waunakee Manor Health Care Center. Frances was born June 22, 1913 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the daughter of Israel and Mary (Rozofsky) Forgan. She married Samuel Rotman on August 14, 1938 in Chicago, Ill.  Sam and Frances shared 63 years together. Frances was a woman of remarkable intellect whose love of learning and passion for reading instilled a thirst for education in her daughters. This is a legacy which continues with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frances was a kind and gentle mom. She was also a ""little fireball"" who rode a bicycle until she was 84 years old and was a folk dancer well into her 80's. Frances is survived by her three daughters, Lynn (Tom) Ansfield of Middleton, Joyce (Curt) Brengle of Wheaton, Md., and Judith Rotman (Barbara Gunning) of Washington, D.C. She is further survived by nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; her parents; her brothers; and sister. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. Michael I. Goldrosen for his compassionate care and to the extraordinary staff at Waunakee Manor for their kindness, love and skill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted in Frances's name to Madison Jewish Social Services, 6434 Enterprise Lane, Madison, WI 53719. According to Frances's wishes, there will be no services.
