Francis G. Melaas

Stoughton- Francis G. Melaas, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010.   He was born in Stoughton on November 18, 1928 the son of Joseph and Geda (Spilde) Melaas.   Fran was a life long resident of Stoughton, graduating from Stoughton High School.   He worked for Danco Prairie Farm Service for 27 years, retiring in 1993.   Fran enjoyed gardening, especially vegetables and flowers.   He was a member of Covenant Lutheran Church.   On August 29, 1981 Fran married Donna Christiaansen.   Together they enjoyed wintering in Florida with Donna's sister and husband.   Fran is survived by his wife of 28 years, Donna; two sons, Jason and Ronald Melaas; step children, Kim (Gloria) Morris, Ken Morris, Kris (Brad) Leikness and Cory Christiaansen; several grandchildren; brother, Irving (Betty) Melaas; many relatives; and special friends.   He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant grandson.   Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Covenant Lutheran Church, 1525 N. Van Buren, Stoughton, with Rev. George Carlson officiating.   Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon immediately following in the church Fellowship Hall.   Friends may greet the family from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday.   A special thank you to the staff of HospiceCare Inc. and St. Mary's Hospital.
