Frank Edward Nechuta

Frank E. Nechuta, age 82, died Sunday, January 18, 2009 in the Columbus Community Hospital after a brief illness.  He was born May 31, 1926, in Saint Paul, MN, the son of Frank and Mary (Drwiega) Nechuta. He later settled in Madison after his military service.  Prior to his retirement in 1989, Frank had been employed by Ohio Medical in Madison.  He was a veteran of the US Army Air Force, where he served as an engineer/belly gunner on a B17 bomber with the 5th bomber group  of the 15th Air Force.  He was a life member of the VFW, loved trout fishing, reading and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include one son Gary (Sue) Nechuta of Sun Prairie, Gary's mother Mildred Nechuta of Madison and 2 grandchildren: Lindsey and Aaron.  He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother. Services will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday, January 22 at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME where friends may call from 10:00 am until time of service.  Burial will follow in the Sun Prairie City Cemetery with military honors.  Reverend Paul Shupe will officiate.  The family sends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Galvin, Heidi and the rest of the staff of Columbus Community Hospital for the care they provided for Frank.  In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
