Frieda Chose

Stoughton - Frieda Clara Chose passed away on May 30, 2014, at Nazareth Health and Rehab.

Frieda was born in McHenry, ND, on Sept 10, 1915, the daughter of Nick and Rose (Nonnenmacher) Diedrich.

Frieda grew up in Hokah Minn., and graduated from Hokah St. Peters Catholic High School. After school she worked in La Crosse at Montgomery Wards and married Harold at the age of 21. She also lived and worked in Baraboo at Sky High Orchards, Butler Pennsylvania at Olson Dairies, and in Madison at Harry S. Manchester Residence. Frieda and Harold moved to Stoughton in 1947 and began the A&W Drive-In. Frieda was an avid euchre player and loved people. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Frieda is survived by her son Tom (Philayne) of Stoughton; grandson Nicholas (Maureen) of Stoughton and their children Theodore and Lucille, grandson Joseph (Kristin) of Wauwatosa and their children Campbell and Jackson. She is also survived by her sister in-law Emily Diedrich of Millville, MN., and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold in 1978, infant daughter Helen Rose (10 months), brothers Martin Diedrich and Harley Diedrich, her sister Edith Fishel, in-laws Helen and Red Curry, Cora and Raymond Knick and Amanda and George Reider.

Frieda's employees became close friends and remain special in family memories of an enjoyable and successful business in the Stoughton Community. Frieda was proud of the many friendships she and Harold enjoyed through softball and bowling teams sponsored by their restaurant. She was a 50 year member of the Baraboo Chapter 21 Eastern Star and 45 year member to the Sons of Norway Mandt Lodge 314 and Covenant Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Covenant Lutheran Church, 1525 N. Van Buren St, Stoughton, WI. Visitation will be held at Covenant Lutheran Church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services on Tuesday. Friends and family are invited to enjoy the A&W menu following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sons of Norway Mandt Lodge or Covenant Lutheran Church.
