Frieda L. Tygum

April 8, 1919 — March 11, 2011

Frieda L. Tygum, age 91, died Friday, March 11, 2011 at HospiceCare, Inc.   She was born April 8, 1919, the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Warnke) Kromrie, in Waushara County, WI.   She grew up on a farm near Coloma, WI with her three brothers and four sisters.   As a young woman, She went to Lodi to work.   She learned to play the accordion and played with the Rudy Burkhalter Accordian Band for several years.   Russell and Frieda met in DeForest.   She and Russell Tygum were married on June 29, 1940 in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coloma.   Over the years, Frieda worked for Kroger Foods, National Foods and Ray-O-Vac.   She enjoyed many crafts, including sewing, crocheting, rosemaling, and flower arranging.   She also took pride in her flower beds and flowering trees.   She traveled throughout the continental United States, as well as, Alaska, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Egypt, England, East and West Germany, the Netherlands and the Holy Land.   Survivors include her three children: Katherine, Phillip (Mary, Keith (Sandra); 3 granddaughters: Kathy (Don) Goldstein, Kristine (Dan) Busby and Monica (Doug) Miller and 3 great grandchildren: Charles, Hailey and William Miller.   Frieda was preceded in death by her Russell in 1974, her grandparents, her parents, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.   Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 18 at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH 322 E. Washington Avenue where friends may call from 10:00 am until time of service.   Reverend Ken Smith will officiate.   Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given St. John's Lutheran Church.
