Gail V. Stiklestad, age 85, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2011 at Stoughton Hospital. Â She was born in Stoughton on July 12, 1925, the daughter of Henry and Joan (Bringa) Sveum. Â She graduated from Stoughton High School and The Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Madison. Â On February 22, 1947, she was united in marriage to Obert Stiklestad at Central Lutheran Church in Stoughton. Â Together, she and Obert farmed for many years in the Stoughton area. Â Gail worked as an RN at Stoughton Hospital for more than 30 years in the OB and Med-Surg Units, helping to bring hundreds of babies into the world. Â She was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church, a member of the Ladies Aid, Circle #15, and quilters. Â Over the years, Gail was a candy striper, a 4-H Club leader, a member of Burritt School Mothers Club, a volunteer at Stoughton Hospital Creative Care Center, and played countless games of euchre with friends. Â She also loved playing games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Â She was a great cook and enjoyed preparing food and giving it to others. Â Her harvest time meals were especially well known and kept people returning to help at the farm at harvest time for many years. Â She is survived by her husband, Obert; two daughters, Nancy Eisele of Rhinelander, and Bonnie (Eldon) Anderson of Stoughton; 6 grandchildren, Christian (Julie) Eisele and Eric (Jackie) Eisele, both of Oregon, WI, Nelson (Helen) Eisele of Wausau, Matthew Anderson of Madison, Erica (David) Adams of Edgerton, and Dana Anderson of Menomonie; great grandchildren, Kathleen, Lucas and Lilyan Eisele, Emma and Adam Eisele, and Elijah and Abigail Adams. Â Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington St., Stoughton, with the Rev. Richard Halom officiating. Â Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery South. Â The family will greet friends at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton on Wednesday, January 26 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and again at church on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Â Special thanks to the nursing and Med-Surg staff at Stoughton Hospital, Dr. Joyce Brehm, and the staff at St. Mary's Renal Center. Â Memorials may be made to Stoughton Hospital, or to First Lutheran Church.
