Gary Wagner

December 7, 1957 — April 24, 2015

Cambridge: Gary P. Wagner died Friday, April 24, 2015, at his home. He was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, on December 7, 1957 to Eva H. (Ripp) and Richard C. Wagner. He grew up in Waunakee, Wisconsin, and graduated from Waunakee High School in 1976. After high school, Gary worked in the field of electronics. He worked for 23 years with Emerson Technologies.
Gary was known for his quick wit and high-pitched, infectious laugh. He was an avid sports fan and was not to be interrupted when his Packers or Brewers were playing. Gary loved spending time with his sons, Dillon and Dalton, and many hours were spent fishing together on Lake Ripley. They also enjoyed playing intense games of chess and other board games. In fact, because Gary taught him how to play chess, Dillon started the first Chess Club in Cambridge history!
Gary was also a gentle and kind-hearted soul. He saw the beauty in nature and loved animals. Reading and watching programs about historical people and events was also a favorite pastime.
Gary is survived by his sons, Dillon (18) and Dalton, (14), both at home, and their mother, Cathy. He is also survived by his six siblings: Tom (Laurie) of Dallas, TX, Ron of Madison, Rick (Margaret) of Columbia, MD, Gail of DeForest, WI, Vicky (Patrick) McSherry of Waunakee, and Lynn (Steve Reis) Rolstad of Waunakee. He has six nieces and nephews that were endeared by Gary's gregarious humor, including Amanda (Mike) Russell of Spokane, Washington, Erin (fianc Jamie Bauer) McSherry of Poynette, WI, Jacob Rolstad of Milwaukee, Lauren (Jordan Rueden) Rolstad of Waunakee, Keefe (Cody Bingham) McSherry of Waunakee, and George Wagner of Dallas, TX. He also has one great niece, Iris Bauer.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, 209 South Street, Waunakee, WI, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a fund is being established for Gary's sons.
No more sorrow. No more pain. Only everlasting peace, joy and love. We love you, Gary, and carry you in our hearts always.
