Sun Prairie-Gene R. Fromm, age 69, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Don & Marilyn HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg. He was born on November 24, 1941 in Racine the son of Otto & Elsie (Nickels) Fromm. Gene was united in marriage with Donna A. MacLeod on December 7, 1968 in Racine. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War serving with the U.S.A.F. as a photographer. Gene was an avid Badger & Packer fan. He was employed in the marketing & advertising field being award an ""ADDY"" for excellence in advertising. In his retirement he wrote and had published a novel ""Satan's Head"". Gene was involved with the Sun Prairie Civic Theater for many years, he was a lifetime member of the Sun Prairie V.F.W. Post #9362, and he was a supporter of the Sun Prairie Community Band. He and Donna loved to travel by car having been to all 50 states and parts of Canada, the highlight being the annual fall color trip up north. Although he had many interests, his greatest enjoyment was that of being a devoted grandfather who never missed a grandchild's event. He is survived by his beloved family which include his wife, Donna; his children, Anne (Bill) Schlei, Andrew (Carol) Schumacher and Carole (Mark) Larson; he was beloved grandfather to, Christopher Yerges, Kate Schlei (Nathan Lyman), Joseph & Sarah Gene Larson; beloved Naa'Lii (Navajo for grandfather) to Shiyalyn and Myranda Schumacher, Rashaun, Raquel, Zachery & Taijai Timothy; his loyal canine companion, Alice; a brother in law and a sister in law, nieces and nephews, and many friends especially his life long friend Dick Lock. Mr. Fromm was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Harold and a sister, Marion Porter. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cress Funeral Home, Sun Prairie. A time of gathering will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family would like to thank the staffs of Meriter Hospital and HospiceCare for there wonderful care and concern. In lieu of flowers memorials to Peace Ev. Lutheran Church, Sun Prairie or to HospiceCare, Inc. would be appreciated.
