George J. Acker

Ashton / Lexington, KY- George J. Acker, age 71, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Monday, December 27, 2010 in Kentucky.  He was born on the family farm in Ashton on July 16, 1939, the son of George F. and Helen (Ripp) Acker.  George worked the family farm and was the general manager of RC Cola for over 20 years.  For the next several years he explored opportunities in sales.  For the last eight years George worked as a paralegal for the Walter Cox Law Office in Lexington.  He was an avid gardener, a natural salesman who could sell anything, an excellent joke teller and enjoyed watching the Packers.  George is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Doug) Olson of Stoughton; son, Mark (Becky) Acker of Waunakee; son, Scott Acker of Madison; four grandchildren, Ashley, Kelly and Brandon Acker and Alexis Argall; mother of his children, Mary Ellen Acker of Middleton; five siblings, Elizabeth Acker, Richard (Marlene) Acker, Mary Hinz, Don (Carol) Acker and Syl (Jean) Acker; special friend, Janie Mallory and her son Taylor; and many relatives and friends in WI and KY.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 323 N. Van Buren, Stoughton, with Monsignor Gerard Healy officiating.  Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon immediately following Mass in the church fellowship hall.  Visitation will be held from noon until the time of Mass on Sunday.
