George Edward Diel

Madison -- George E. Diel, age 81 of Madison passed away at home on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 surrounded by his loving family.   He was born in Oshkosh May 29, 1928, the son of George ""Jack"" and Mary (Macho) Diel.   George served in the Marine Corps in Korea from 1950 to 1954.   He married DeLaine Daubert in Oshkosh on June 16, 1956.   He graduated from UW Madison and worked for the Legislative Audit Bureau, retiring in 1992.George's passions were fishing, traveling, crossword puzzles, going out to eat with his retirement buddies and volunteering at the VA Hospital.   George had a wonderful sense of humor.   George is survived by his son, Paul (Sharleen) Diel of River Falls, WI; his daughter, Kathy (Bob) Carder of Madison; grandchildren Marlayna and Jacob Diel and Peter Carder; his brother, John and sisters Florence, Rose, Mary, Ellen and Joan.   George is also survived by his loved dogs Cochise and Trixie Sue.   He was preceded in death by his loving wife, his parents and sister, Frances.   A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, June 8, 2009 from 5:00 -- 7:00 PM at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 6021 University Ave.   Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Advent Lutheran Church, 7118 Old Sauk Road, Madison, WI 53717.   There will be a visitation prior to the service beginning at 10:30 AM.   Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park, Oshkosh, WI.
