George B. Haley

Sun Prairie- George B. Haley, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at his home. George was born on June 4, 1927 in Olinger, VA. He was united in marriage to Alice E. Smith on April 30, 1960 in Germany and they celebrated their golden anniversary this past spring. He was a proud veteran who served his country for over 27 years. The first 4 years with the U.S. Navy in W.W.II and then the next 23 years with the U.S.A.F. with numerous tours of duty to Korea during the Korean War and to Viet Nam during the Viet Nam War. He stayed retired for 3 days after the service and then took a job with the Sun Prairie School District in the Maintenance Dept., this lasted 13 years. After he retired a second time he then took a job with the Adam Co. Park System which let him to be close to nature which he loved. In his spare time he loved to fish and hunt. He was a devoted grandfather who took great pride in his grandchildren. He love attending their sporting events especially hockey games. He will be missed by his beloved family which include his wife, Alice of Sun Prairie; his sons, Kurt (Terry) of Cottage Grove, Craig (Connie) of Sun Prairie and Vaughn (Beth) of Sun Prairie; his grandchildren, Tara (Nate) Weyh, Sean Feavel, Justin Feavel, Brett Haley, Marcus Haley, Nikolus Haley and Libby Haley; step grandchildren, Travis Treioff and Erica Wagner; great grandchildren, Ryan Feavel, Haylie Weyh and Madeline Weyh. A private family graveside service with full military honors will be held at Highland Memory Gardens, Cottage Grove.
