George Ingwell

George Purdon Ingwell, age 78 passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday January 25, 2012.

George was born on November 19, 1933 in Madison, son of Curtis and Virginia Ingwell. He graduated from West High School and attended the University of Wisconsin Madison. George was united in marriage to Phyllis Marie Alighieri on July 9, 1955. He worked in the banking industry at Monona Grove State Bank and also as Credit Manager for Mautz Paint Company.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis of 56 years and their children Laurie (Terry Lee) Ingwell, David (Mary Pat) Ingwell and Susan (Frank) Gallo; grandchildren, Rachel and Allison Baker, Jack, Georgia and Greta Ingwell, Alicia and Joseph Gallo. He is further survived by his brother Robert (Eula) Ingwell, his sister Dorothy (Dan) Barrett; his sister and brother-in-law Jo and Jim Cassidy; sister-in-law Ruth Alighieri and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Curtis and Virginia Ingwell, and his brother-in-law Victor Alighieri. George had a deep love for his family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 11:00am with Monsignor Donald J. Heiar, Jr. presiding. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:00am until the time of mass.
