Middleton/ Marxville- George W. Marx, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 3, 2017, at Agrace surrounded by his family. He was born on August 12, 1923, in Marxville, the son of John and Mary (Statz) Marx.
George was united in marriage on June 17, 1947, to Elizabeth (Betty) Ripp and she preceded him in death on Dec 21, 1995. Together they farmed on the original Marx homestead where he was born and where they raised their seven children. After retirement, George and Betty built a house in Middleton, but the love of farming always called him back to the farm to lend a hand or to climb on a four-wheeler to check on the crops. George's greatest love was for his children and his willingness to always be there for us. We will be forever grateful for his kindness and generosity.
He is survived by his children, Arleen Breunig, Ileen (Mike) Schwarz, Ron Marx, Diane (Tom) Alt, and Sandy (Paul) Hellenbrand; sons-in-law, Carl (Kathy) Wackerle and Keith Breunig; 17 grandchildren, 4 step- grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren. George is also survived by his sisters, Laura Theis, Loretta Zander and Irene Keller in addition to his in-laws, Cyril (Irene) Ripp, Aggie Ganser, George (Donna) Ripp, Ann Woodbury, John Ripp, and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; daughters, Jane Wackerle and Cindy Breunig; son-in-law, Larry Breunig; and daughter-in-law, Judy Marx. In addition, he was preceded in death by his brother, John (Jeanette) Marx and sister, Rose (Ray) Acker; in-laws, Matt Theis, James Zander, Roman Keller, Marie (Leo) Pertzborn, Sally (George) Miller, Viola (Don) Mabis, Clarence Ganser, and Don Woodburn.
