Georgette Fiedler

Madison - Georgette M. "Georgie" Fiedler, age 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 5, 1929 in Milwaukee, the daughter of George E. and Evelyn L. (Werner) Baltus. Georgie met her husband, James P. Fiedler, at Shorewood High School and, on August 30 1952, they were married at St. Robert's Church, Shorewood, Wisconsin. After graduating from Mount Mary College in June of 1951 with a B.S. degree in Dietetics, Georgie interned for one year at the Mayo Clinic and St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Following her internship, Georgie worked at Misericordia Hospital in Milwaukee as a therapeutic dietitian until 1953 when she and Jim moved to Mineral Point, where she then worked as a consultant dietitian for St. Joseph's Hospital and General Hospital in Dodgeville, Memorial Hospital of Iowa County, Mineral Point Care Center, and Bloomfield Manor until retirement in 1992. She was a Member of the American Dietetic Association and a member of Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society, a national honorary fraternity. Georgie is survived by her loving husband, James Fiedler; six children, Atty. Patrick (Sandy) Fiedler, Madison; Georgia (Sean McGlenn) Fiedler, West Bend; Atty. Margaret (Jeff) Koehler, Mineral Point; Kathleen (John) Allen, Pewaukee; Jeanne (Keith) Taylor, West Bend; and George (Marleen) Fiedler, Mineral Point; her brother-in-law William Dean of Milwaukee; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild, Kevin Allen, brother-in-law, John Fiedler, and sister-in-law, Mary Dean. A private service will be held for the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to Agrace Hospice, Our Lady Queen of Peace School Endowment Fund, Madison, Wisconsin, or the charity of your choice in Georgie's name.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the staff at Waterford and Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg for their care and compassion in assisting Georgie.
