Georgia Erickson

DEERFIELD--Georgia Clare Erickson, age 76, passed away Thursday morning, January 3, 2013 at Nazareth House in Stoughton.

She was born on October 26, 1936 the daughter of the late George and Clara (Nelson) Buchanan. She was born and raised in Madison and graduated from East High School, Class of 1954. Three years later, on October 3, 1957 she was united in marriage to Earl A. "Whitey" Erickson. Together they raised five children: Michael, Kathy, David, Steven, and Darcy.

Georgia most enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren grow. She attended many games and events that they were a part of throughout the years. Georgia worked various jobs creating many life-long friendships. She also enjoyed embroidering dish towels and sewing baby quilts and graciously gave them as gifts to grandchildren, family friends and relatives. She loved family get-togethers and any opportunity that allowed her to make her famous baked beans!

Georgia is survived by three sons, Michael, David, and Steven (Ronda) Erickson; a daughter, Darcy (Darin) Julseth; grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, and Cole Erickson, Michelle Erickson and Lia Julseth; two sisters-in-law, Marge Tofson and Shirley Fogelberg; two brothers-in-law, Orton "Junior" (Shirley) and Dennis (Barb) Erickson; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl "Whitey" Erickson; a daughter, Kathy Jo; and sisters, Phyllis Buchanan, Alvira Payne, Lucille Morris and Judith Pittack.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 11 am at St. Paul's Liberty Lutheran Church, 3494 Oak Park Rd., Deerfield with the Reverend Dick Blomker officiating. Burial will follow at Cottage Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends at Cress Funeral Home in Deerfield on Monday, January 7, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and again at church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. The family extends a special thank you to all the staff of Nazareth House.
