Georgia C. Varebrook, “Nana” a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31st, 2025, at the age of 79. Nana was a beloved matriarch who cherished her family above all else.
Georgia was the youngest of seven daughters of George and Mary Kanne (O’Melia). She lived in Waunakee for over 50 years. She raised three children, Robert Jr (Michelle) Varebrook, Tim (Tina) Varebrook and Julie (Paul) Hellenbrand, who were the center of her world. She devoted herself to being the best mother possible against all odds.
Nana’s grandsons were her ultimate passion, Tyler, Travis (Lindsi), Caleb (Kayla), Isaac Varebrook (friend Lucy) and Carter (Marly) Hellenbrand. Her legacy now extends to her pride and joy, great-grandson Aiden Varebrook, and future great-grandchildren.
Her greatest happiness was spending time with her children’s families and friends. She loved being a part of her grandson’s lives whether from afar or near. She was active in her children’s and grandson’s activities, and no-one cheered louder from the stands. Nothing made her prouder from their birth, school, sports, career accomplishments and marriages. She always had their backs and lived by the motto: “Don’t mess with my boys”.
Georgia was preceded in death by both of her parents, sisters Betty Ludowissi, Mary Carbon, Helen Graffeo and daughter Julie Hellenbrand. She is survived by sisters Kathy Bourbonais, Donna Vaughan and Ginny Scheer; and many loving relatives and friends.
Ultimately cancer and a broken heart due to her daughter’s recent passing took her, but her family is at peace knowing that she is now with her cherished Julie.
The family of Georgia Varebrook would like to thank the staff at Agrace Hospice for the respectful and compassionate care of Nana. In lieu of flowers or cards, the family suggests a donation consideration to Agrace in her name.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date per Nana’s wishes.
