Schwier, Gerald R. Sauk City -- Gerald R. Schwier, age 64, passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Â Jerry was born on Sept. 14, 1946 in La Crosse to Marlon and Kathryn ( Davis) Schwier. He graduated from Madison West High School in 1964. He attended college at UW La Crosse along with Madison Area Technical College. Jerry was drafted into the Army during The Vietnam War and was stationed in San Francisco where he was trained as a computer programmer. Jerry moved back to Madison where he started his career at National Mutual Benefit. Â It was here over the next 32 years where he built what he called his second family and retired in 2010. On Oct. 24, 2009, Jerry married Patricia Miller and they created a home together in Sauk City. Jerry had a great love for softball, hunting, bowling and most importantly life. He always carried a smile on his face and would go out of his way to help others whether he knew them or not. Â Jerry is survived by his children Marc (Stacey), Jon and Jill along with his siblings Jack (Shirl) Schwier and Marlene (Bill) Wendle. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday Jan. 20, 2011, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison.
