Gertrude Byrne Slightam

Madison-Gertrude Byrne Slightam, age 96, died on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at HospiceCare Inc. She was born in the town of Oregon, Wisconsin on October 14, 1911 to the late William J. and Elizabeth (Hannavan) Byrne. Gertrude retired from New York Life Insurance Company in 1973. She survived by many friends who will miss her and loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband, David L. Slightam and her beloved sister Eleanor Wessely who resided in Guntersville, Alabama. Gertie was a member of St. Raphael Cathedral for many years. Gertie will be remembered for her true ""Irish Spirit"" and her love of friends and animals. A burial will take place on Monday, September 15, 2008 at 3:00PM at Forest Hill Cemetery, 1 Speedway Road, Madison, Wisconsin. In lieu of donations, say a prayer for all of those suffering in this World.
