Gordon V. Marlow, age 89, passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2009 at Attic Angel Nursing Home. Gordon was the son of Samuel and Mildred (Tubbs) Marlow. He grew up in Madison and spent summers in Grant County with relatives, the Tubbs, Raisebeck and Metcalf families. Gordon graduated from Madison West High School and continued his education at U.W. Madison, graduating from Medical School, specializing as a colon and rectal surgeon. While Gordon was at UW he taught classes in histology and neurology. Gordon had a private proctology practice for 35 years in Madison, he became fondly known as the ""Rear Admiral."" He had a love for flying and received his pilot's license at age17, and later became a member of the Flying Badgers Air Corp Unit. Gordon served in WWII as a Lt. Commander in the Navy and flew SBD's off the USS Enterprise (CV-6) Carrier, which was a highlight of his life. Gordon started the Wisconsin Association of Proctologists, served on the Board of Henry Vilas Zoo for over 25 years. He served as president and was an original founder of the Zoo Benefit Dance. Gordon was also an avid supporter of the Veterans War Museum, EAA, UW Alumni, AMA and charter member of the original Hill Farms Pool and was involved with developing local area neighborhoods. Gordon loved music; he was an avid collector of clocks and music machines and was a talented fine woodworker. He had a passion for world travels with his beloved wife Ina. One of his favorite places to visit regularly was San Pedro Island located off the coast of Belize, where he loved to fish. Gordon is survived by his sons, Tracy, John, Scott and Bradley (Kris) and his daughter Jenelle (Don) Marlow-Gors; his grandchildren, Dylan, Katie, Curtis, Kristian, Nicholas, James, Maggie, Molly, Lilly, Heidi and Greta and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife Ina; other relatives and friends. Gordon had fond memories of many of his friends and relatives; the Tubbs, Raisebeck, Metcalf, Boyce, Marans, Clark, Meehan and Erickson families. A Time to Remember Gordon will he held on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at 1:00 p. m. at ATTIC ANGEL in the Community Room, 8301 Old Sauk Road, Middleton. The family would like to thank HospiceCare and acknowledge Gordon's Attic Angel Family for their kind help and wonderful care. In lieu of flowers donations to Henry Vilas Zoo, 606 S. Randall Ave., Madison, WI 53715 in memory of Gordon ""Doc"" Marlow would be a great tribute. Dad, we love and miss you. Your jokes, stories and magical hands will be remembered, as you touched many lives!
