Gordon E. Moore

Madison/St. Germain - Gordon E. Moore ""Gordy"" of St. Germain, WI, died October 11, 2010 in Madison, WI, after a short illness. He was 86. He was born May 23, 1924 in Shakopee, MN. His parents were Paul W. Moore and Dagny Olson.

Gordy grew up in Horicon, WI, graduating in 1941. He served in the Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1945. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and graduated in 1950 with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.

In 1951 he married Geri Schultz from Horicon, WI, who predeceased him in 2000. After getting married they moved to Rockford, IL, where Gordy worked as a consulting engineer for 10 years. In 1961 they moved to Monona, WI, where he worked for Carl C. Crane Consulting Engineers until 1966, when he and his partner bought the business; he retired in June 1986. Gordy and Geri moved to St. Germain, WI, in 1993.

He is survived by his children, Michael J. (Donna) Moore of Middletown, RI., Timothy J. (Linda) Moore of Madison, and Susan M. (Daniel) Ernst of Madison; six grandchildren, Moria Moore, Emily, Andrew, and Hannah Moore, Kevin (Sacarra) and Angela Ernst.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayland Moore.

Gordy served as Scout Master of Troop 24 in the 1960s. His avid love of the outdoors included camping, fishing, snowmobiling, sailing, and hunting. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family on many fishing trips to Canada and vacations in the Caribbean. He was on the Board of Directors of the St. Germain Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club, an active participant of the Apple Dumpling Gang, and a member of the Sayner and St. Germain Fish and Wildlife Club.

A memorial service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI. The family would especially like to thank Dawn, Mary, Jeff and Lindsey of Hospice.
