Gretchen E. Boldt

December 11, 1928 — May 10, 2010

Gretchen E. Boldt, age 81, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Stoughton Hospital.   She was born in LaCrosse on December 11, 1928, a daughter of Adrian and Nell (Galstad) Brietzke.   On June 14, 1952, she was united in marriage to George R. Boldt.   Gretchen worked as a Registered Nurse until starting her family.   As a full time mother, she was also an active volunteer at the Deerfield Lutheran Church, The Deerfield Public Library, served on the Library Board, the School Board, and as a Girl Scout and Boy Scout Troop leader.   She was generous and giving, always putting others first.   She served God by serving others.   Gretchen loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.   She was an avid reader, and along with her husband, enjoyed traveling, gardening and making stained glass.   She will be deeply missed by her 3 children, Jeffrey Boldt, Judy (John) Lange, and Jennifer (Tom) Oasen; 6 grandchildren, Nick (Shannon) Oasen, Abby (Marshall) Oasen-Bussen, Ryan (Amber Beich) Boldt, Tamra (Davide) Boldt-Savini, and Rachel and Robert Lange; 2 great-grandchildren, Grady Oasen and Sophie Bussen; a sister, Adrienne (Dr. George)   Palermo; a brother-in-law, Donald Boldt; nieces, nephews and cousins; and many dear friends.   She was preceded in death by her husband George in 2003.   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Deerfield Lutheran Church, 206 S. Main St., Deerfield, with the Rev. Larry Sexe officiating.   Burial will follow at the Deerfield Lutheran Cemetery.   The family will greet friends on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service.   Memorials may be made to the Deerfield Lutheran Church.
