Gretchen J. Walters

Stoughton—Gretchen J. Walters, age 83, of Stoughton, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024. Born in Chicago, IL, to the late Louis and Maxine Fortman, she is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel A. Walters.

To carry on her memory are her children Rebecca J. Montague (Dean); Amy M. Baumann (James); and Michael D. Walters; her grandchildren Ryan M. Montague, James “Hilton” Baumann, III; Hailey M. Baumann, and Alexandria K. Walters.

Gretchen was a proud graduate of St. Mary’s Nursing School in Madison, Wisconsin. She was an RN, and her career including Cedar Crest Nursing Home in Janesville, WI St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, WI and ultimately retiring from The American Red Cross. She will be deeply missed.

A small private family visitation and service will be held at Good Shepherd By the Lake in Stoughton. Gretchen will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Town of Dunn Burying Grounds.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the American Red Cross.
