Stoughton- Gwendolyn Elizabeth ""Gwen"" Walsh, 90, passed away in Stoughton on Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Gwen was born in Milwaukee on January 5, 1921, the eldest daughter of John and Elizabeth (Bergman) Juneman. Following the untimely death of her father in 1926, Gwen, her younger sister Dolores, and their mother found it necessary to move to live with various maternal relatives, one of whom owned a boarding house in Milwaukee. It was there that Gwen's mother met Herman Achenbach of Boscobel, who would become her stepfather in 1936. The family relocated to Boscobel where Gwen became the first drum majorette for the Boscobel High School Band and co-authored the words to the Boscobel school song which is still in use today. Gwen married James Walsh on August 22, 1945 at the VA Chapel in Wood, Wisconsin. As newlyweds, Jim and Gwen co-owned the Unique Caf� in Boscobel with Mike and Maxine Nauert. The couple lived in Boscobel until 1961 when Jim's employment took them to Evansville. During her years on Evansville, Gwen was the receptionist for Baker Manufacturing Company for a number of years before serving as Deputy City Clerk for the City of Evansville until she retired at the age of 78. Gwen enjoyed traveling and she was fortunate enough to have been able to visit China, parts of Europe, Mexico, Canada, and many of the United States. Survivors include a daughter Diane (Dan) Matson of Stoughton; a son, Tim (Kim) Walsh of Houston Texas; four grandchildren; Christopher (Odessa) of Windsor, Aaron (Laura) of Madison, Nathan (Keeley) of Shanghai China, and Jordan of Madison. In addition, Gwen leaves four great grandchildren; Raegan, Taylor, Colton and Macy. Gwen is further survived by her sister, Dolores (Skeets, deceased) Taylor of Annandale, Virginia, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John, Elizabeth and Herman; and by her husband, Jim. Gwen has requested that there be no funeral; however, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 23 in the Skaalen Chapel in Stoughton, with a time to visit with family beginning at 10:00 a.m. The memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Boscobel Cemetery.
