Sun Prairie-Burdekin, Harold Walter "Hal" Burdekin, age 91, passed away on Saturday, December 10th with his family by his side.
He was born in Schenectady, NY in February 13,1920. He honorably served his country as a Captain in the Air Force during World War II, where he was a Lead Combat Pilot of a B-24. He was highly decorated, including being awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross, The Air Medal with Four Clusters, and The European Theater of Operations Medal with Four Battle Stars.
After his military career he studied at Ohio State and Syracuse Universities where he acquired a Bachelors in Business Administration. He had a long and distinguished career in sales and marketing and was instrumental in the success of the companies he served, most notably GE Corporation.
He had an affinity for the arts and was a highly accomplished Stained Glass Artist. His works have been on display throughout Wisconsin and are highly coveted. He was also a long time member of the Madison Art Guild.
He is preceded in death by his son Walter James Burdekin (1974), his parents, and his sister.
He is survived by his wife Jean Burdekin, his son Robert Burdekin (Judy), three daughters, Catherine Koepke, Patricia Jackson (Dale), & Holly Burdekin and many wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A private visitation will be held at Cress Funeral Home in Sun Prairie, WI on Wednesday December 14th at 6:00 pm. A Memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday December 15th at 10:00 am at Cress Funeral Home in Sun Prairie, WI.
