Madison - Harold Farkas, died peacefully on June 21, 2018, at the age of 89 at Capitol Lakes Terraces.
Harold was born in Horinch in the former Czechoslovakia (now Ukraine) on March 12, 1929. His parents, grandparents, and five younger siblings were killed at Auschwitz. Harold survived Nazi concentration camps and work camps and first emigrated to Israel, before joining relatives, including his older brother Murray (now deceased), in Cleveland, Ohio.
Harold learned to speak perfect English and obtained his Bachelors and Masters degrees at Case Institute of Technology (now Case Western Reserve University). He spent much of his career working for the Department of Health Services for the state of Wisconsin. Harold was active in the Jewish community and was also an avid investor in the stock market. He had a quiet charm and a warm smile.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Sandra; ex-wife, Judith; and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by long-time companion Ruth Davy.

Burial will be at BEIT OLAMIM JEWISH CEMETERY in Sunset Memory Gardens on Friday, June 22, 2018, at 1:30 p.m.
