Waunakee- Harold ""Harry"" James Maly, age 65 passed away on May 28th of natural causes at his home. He was born on May 16, 1946 to Roman and Esther (Kruchten) Maly. Harold grew up in a large farming family on Meffert Road outside of Waunakee. He graduated from Queen of Apostles Seminary for High School after which he attended UW-Madison, started seasonal concrete construction work and continued taking business and computer classes in the winters. In 1977 he started J&H Construction, which he owned and operated until his death. As an owner, Harold provided many close to him a way to make a living and was a quick witted boss. Earlier in life Harold enjoyed baseball, softball and bowling. More recently he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, improving his business, trading stocks and planning his retirement. Harold was always quick with a joke and loved to argue politics.
Harold is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Williams) Maly four sons Kenneth (Kelly), Carl (Shannon), Brady and JR (Bonnie) Spore, two step children Dan Maier and Ann Walls and nine grandchildren Ethan Maly, Olivia Maly, Emma Maly, Trevor Maier, Darren Spore, Kayla Spore, Gentry Spore, Meadow Spore and Sierra Spore. He was also survived by his mother Esther Maly, sisters Judy (Peter) Adler, Anita (Pat) Drager and Karen Maly and brothers Vern (Dottie) Maly, Charles (Chris) Maly, Alan (Joyce) Maly, Daniel (Becky) Maly, Sylvester (Pearl) Maly and Ronald Maly and his sister-in law, Charlene Maly. He was preceded in death by brother Richard Maly and father Roman Maly.
A memorial service will be held on Friday June 3, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home in Waunakee. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
