Harold J. Reible

November 16, 1930 — June 18, 2011

Westport/Waunakee - Harold J. ""Buddy"" Reible, age 80, of Westport passed away at his home on Saturday, June 18, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born November 16, 1930 in Roxbury, Wis. to Carl and Magdeline (Henning) Reible. Harold married Betty (Nonn) on April 7, 1953. They recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.

Harold served in the Army from 1950 to 1953. He then worked at Oscar Meyer from which he retired after working 45 years. He also worked at the Swift Company and drove bus for Zimbrick Bus Service of Waunakee. He loved working on the Acker Brothers farm in Ashton during straw and hay season and working with his brother, Buster, on the farm in Roxbury, where he was born and raised. He pulled rope for the Ashton tug-of-war team for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 360 and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling at his cabin in Mercer, Wis. Snowmobiling was his passion for many years. He was a charter member of a local snowmobile club. He also enjoyed attending the country music festivals in Rhinelander and Cadott, and performances at The Fireside in Fort Atkinson.

He is survived by his wife Betty; children, Anita (Ron) Lauber of Portage, Francis (Rita) of Waunakee, Allan of Waunakee, David (Diane) of Dane, Edward (Lorilea) of Avalon, Neal (Teri) of Waunakee, LuAnn Meinholz of Edgerton; grandchildren, Trevor and Troy (Steph) Lauber, Emily (Eric) Townley, Eric (Lauren) Reible, Jill Reible, Bill (Holly) Reible, Jessica Reible, Kevin and Adam Reible, Rose and Lukas Reible, Elizabeth (Michael) Nielsen, Jake (Jen) Reible; beloved extended family members, Samantha Keichinger, Brandon Hicks, Kayla Michels; step-grandchildren: Jeannie Pertzborn, Ashley (Brian) Nee, Ben Acker; great grandchildren, Tyler Lauber, Dylan Lauber, Peytyn and Brett Reible, Eli Truettner, Andrew and Caden Pertzborn; brothers and sisters, Arbie (Ruth), Earl (Sadie) LaVern ""Buster"" (Bonnie), Shirley Krause, Doris (Gerald) Boehnen, Alice Schmitz, Grace (James) Keenan and Darlene (Tim) Schroeder; his sister-in-laws, Dolly Reible and Betty Reible; and many nieces and nephews as well as many, many friends. He is further survived by his Foreign Exchange program children, Stefan (Claudina) Wernli of Florida and their son Stefan Jr., Ana Beatriz ""Tiz"" (Joe) Rodrigues, and Adriana Jorge of Brazil, Ana Graciela Mesen Esser of Venezuela, and Mariette (Ryan) Roth of Madison. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Alfred Nonn and his sister-in-law, Rosaline Nonn. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Charles; granddaughter, Dawn Lauber; daughter in-law, Becky (Peterson) Reible; great grandchild, Cassidy Truettner; sister and brother-in-law Luella and Robert Blumenstein, brothers, Norman ""Barnie"" and Donald; and brother in-law Robert Schmitz. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Theodore and Susan Nonn; brother and sister-in-laws: Roman (Bernadette) Boehnen, Frank (Rosena) Zander, Werner (Evelyn) Theis, Wienand (Lorraine) Brabender, Ronald (Lily) Nonn, Rita Nonn and Jerome Nonn.

Harold enjoyed spending time with family and friends. While we can no longer hold him in our arms, he is forever in our hearts. We love you very much.

A special thank you to the staff of St. Mary's Hospital, Waunakee Manor, Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare and Home Hospice for all the great care they have given to Harold.

A visitation will be held Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at WINN-CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 27, 2011 at 11 a.m. at ST. MARY OF THE LAKE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5460 Mary Lake Rd., Westport WI 53597. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m.
