Harry E. Abendroth, age 93, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 28, 2009 in his home.   He was born January 14, 1916, in Reeseville, the son of Emil and Helene (Steindorf ) Abendroth.   Harry graduated from Reeseville High in 1933.   Harry was a veteran   of the US Army, serving in the 103rd Infantry Division from 1941 -- 1946, was the recipient of the Bronze Star and continued serving in the Army Reserve until 1962.    On June 18, 1944 Harry was united in marriage with Dorothy Blake in Fort Howze, TX.   Harry pursued more education and received his BA from Lawrence College in 1949 and his MA in Geology from the UW Madison in 1953.   Prior to his retirement in 1979, Harry was employed as an exploration geologist for Union Carbide for 27 years.   During his career, Harry lived Appleton and Oregon, WI, South Africa, India, Australia, Long Island NY, Wausau, WI and then settled in Madison in 1965.   Harry spent his retirement being active in WREA, the Golden Kiwanis and the Lowell VFW.  
Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.  Harry was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy on July 2, 2004 and  his brothers Rueben and Wallace.    
A Celebration of Harry's Life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 19 at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME where friends may call from 10:00 am until time of service.   Military honors will be accorded by the Lowell VFW at 2:30 pm in the Reeseville Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Lawrence University Scholarship Fund or the UW Madison Geology Dept.
