Harry Bernard (Bernie) Maroney II, age 86, a 69 year resident of Madison, WI and Sun City, AZ, passed away on July 7, 2024 at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg, WI with family by his side. Bernie is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Scott Maroney (1970) and his wife Carol Schultz Maroney (2013).
Bernie was born on August 23,1937 to Maxine Hess Maroney and Harry Bernard Maroney in Mount Hope, WV. Bernie graduated in 1955 from Prairie du Sac High School. He then graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1959 with a degree in Political Science and a Law degree from University of Wisconsin- Madison in 1961.
Bernie was the father of Kathryn Maroney Moser (Mark) and Scott Matthew Maroney (Jennifer). He is further survived by three grandchildren; Anna Maxine Moser (Doug), Andrew Craig Moser (Sarah) and Cole Jerome Maroney, and two Great Grandsons; Jettson Mark Moser and Benson Harold Moser.
Bernie began his 36 year long career at the State Medical Society of Wisconsin in Madison, WI and later became the Director of Interstate Post Graduate Medicine in Madison, WI. He also practiced family law for many years in Madison, WI in his offices in the Tenney Building.
He was a long-standing board member of several community organizations, including Oakwood Village, Meta Star and Covenant Presbyterian Church. Bernie loved to play the piano and was known to be an excellent dancer. He enjoyed reading, entertaining friends and spending time with his family. He was a true legend and will be missed.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 1pm at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 326 S. Segoe Road Madison, WI 53705. A reception will immediately follow the celebration.
