Sun Prairie-Harvey “Buck” Kleiber, age 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at his home on April 10, 2024. He was born on December 30, 1935, in Medford, WI, the son of Benjamin and Theresa (Vogt) Kleiber. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Karen (Wild) Kleiber in Medford, WI. Since that time, they have only spent a handful of days apart from each other.
In 1964, they moved to the Madison area where Buck started his 29-year career at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. After retiring in 1993, he worked several part-time jobs, most of which included driving, and worked until the age of 84. Man, he loved driving any type of vehicle, especially the Bluebird school buses!
Buck served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1954-58, followed by service in the reserves for 4 years. He served as a Medic in the First Marine Brigade, Hawaii during his last two years of active service. Buck enjoyed many hobbies over the years including pheasant and deer hunting, bowling, camping, golfing, and he rarely missed an event that any of his children or grandchildren were participating in!
Buck is survived by his wife Karen of Sun Prairie, WI; sons Jeff (Sherri) Kleiber of Mukwonago, WI; Randy (Jackie) Kleiber of Sun Prairie, WI; Curt (Lori Kampmeier) Kleiber of Deerfield, WI; his daughter Kim (Jay) Jennings of DeForest, WI; grandchildren Tom, Ryan (Kelsey), Sami (Austin), Nick, Kyle, Alex, Cassi, and Amanda; great-grandchildren Carson, Colton, Rowan, and Luca; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his eight siblings, Raymond, Jerome, Harold, Kenneth, Irene Grant, Margaret Schmeiser, Sylvia Grant, and Armella Schreiner.
Visitation will be from 10-11:00 AM on Friday, April 19, 2024 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert the Great Drive, Sun Prairie, WI 53590 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM.Friday, April 19, 2024
