Harvey E. Soldner

Harvey E. Soldner, age 89 died peacefully on Sunday January 5th, 2025 at Sun Prairie Health Care Center. Born on March 25, 1935 in Madison Wisconsin. Harvey was a lifelong resident of Sun Prairie and was employed by the Sun Prairie Street Department for 40 years, spending many of those years behind the wheel of a snow plow or a street sweeper doing his best to keep the roads clear and safe for travelers. Harvey married Laura E. Blaschka on March 13, 1957 and together they raised four children, teaching them by example the value of family, laughter and a hard day's work. 

An avid outdoorsman, Harvey spent many of his days away from work hunting or fishing out in the woods or on many of the surrounding lakes with his two sons and close friends. Many of his winter weekends were spent out on the ice with a fishing pole in one hand and a corn cob pipe in the other, waiting to land the next big fish to be mounted. Harvey prided himself on his self-reliance, an example of which could be seen in the pride he took in the many portable ice shanties he built for himself and was always willing to share. 

Harvey was preceded in death by the recent passing of his wife Laura, his brother Howard Soldner and his mother and father, Clarence and Esther Soldner.

Harvey is survived by his son Greg (Karen), daughter Linda (Alan), son Mike (Peggy) and his daughter Debbie (Jim), along with 9 grandchildren, Tim (Amy), Tyler (Katie), Jordan and Jaimie, Amber (Tyler), Justin, Zoe, Molly and one step grandchild Jessie (Annie), 4 great grandchildren, Kylie, Garrett, Travis, one step great grandchild, James, sister Irene Mulcahy (Chuck), and brother LeRoy Soldner (Ran). 

Harvey “Papa” will always be in our hearts and missed dearly by his family and friends.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Bristol Hospice for their compassion, respect and quality of care provided during this difficult time.

Visitation will be from 10-11:00 am on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Cress SUN PRAIRIE with a funeral service to begin at 11:00 am. Harvey will be brought to his final place of rest following the services at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens.
